AI Practices

AI is a co-creator. Not a replacement.

Humans can have thoughts that change the world. We decide what is right and wrong, what matters and what doesn't. AI cannot do that. And I never ask it to.

What AI does brilliantly is accelerate execution. Products that used to take weeks now take days. Some take hours. The thinking is still mine. AI just removes the friction between an idea and something real.

How I use it

Practical AI across every stage of design.

Research & synthesis

I use Claude to process lengthy briefs, requirements documents, and research inputs. It helps me surface what matters without losing hours to reading. It thinks alongside me, not instead of me.

Early conceptualisation

Before I open Figma I'll explore directions with AI. I use it to pressure-test ideas, find the gaps, and arrive at a sharper brief. The ideas are mine. AI just helps me get there faster.

UX copy

Getting the words right at the wireframe stage used to slow things down. Now I draft, iterate, and refine UX copy in parallel with the design. The result is a tighter, clearer product.

Data visualisation for Figma

I actively use AI to generate charts and data visuals from raw data that can be integrated directly into Figma. It closes the gap between a dataset and a design-ready component.

2D to 3D conversion

Converting flat icons and 2D assets into 3D renders for research and concept exploration. I mainly use ChatGPT for this. It is great for communicating direction quickly before committing to production assets.

Codebase collaboration

I work with Claude inside specific project folders. It reads and reasons over large files, requirements, and entire codebases. This very portfolio was rebuilt with Claude as my engineering partner.

Assetora Dashboard

Used Claude to help prepare and iterate on a card design system for Assetora's investment dashboard. The output went straight into production. AI accelerated the exploration phase significantly, compressing what would have been days of iteration into a single focused session.

This portfolio

Rebuilt entirely using Claude as my engineering partner. Claude works directly inside my project folders, reading files, understanding context, writing and editing code. A designer shipping a full Next.js site without a developer. That's the point.

Tools

What I actually use.

Claude

Primary tool

My most-used tool across every stage of the design process. Research, copy, code, and reasoning. Claude works alongside me inside the same project context.

ChatGPT

Image generation & 3D

Used selectively for image generation and converting 2D icons and assets to 3D. Primarily for research and concept exploration rather than production output.

Teaching

Helping beginners use AI in their everyday work.

AI is only as useful as the person using it. I love working with people who are new to this. I show them that AI is not something to fear or outsource your thinking to. It is a genuine accelerator when you know what to ask.

Book a session

“Humans can have thoughts that change the world. AI helps you act on them faster.”

Where I draw the line

I don't use AI for critical judgement.

Deciding what is right for a user, a business, or a product is a human responsibility. I don't delegate ethics, strategy, or consequential design decisions to AI. Those require experience, accountability, and genuine understanding. That still sits entirely with me.
