Overview
Learna is a B2B workplace learning platform connecting organisations with professional development content. The brief was to reimagine the learning experience — making it intuitive, engaging, and accessible for busy professionals who learn in short bursts throughout their day.
I led the end-to-end UX/UI design across iOS, Android, and web — from discovery and wireframing through to high-fidelity prototypes and developer handoff.
The Challenge
Low engagement
Users dropped off within the first 2 minutes. The information architecture buried content behind too many taps.
No sense of progress
There was no visible learning journey. Users didn't know where they were, where they'd been, or where to go next.
Generic content experience
Every user saw the same content regardless of role or industry. Personalisation was non-existent.
Process
Discovery & Research
Conducted stakeholder interviews, reviewed analytics, and ran 8 user interviews to map pain points. Synthesised findings into a clear problem statement and user personas representing Learna's primary audience.
Information Architecture
Rebuilt the navigation model from scratch. Card sorting sessions with 12 users revealed a preference for role-based content grouping over category browsing. Reduced primary navigation from 7 items to 4.
Wireframing & Prototyping
Iterated through three rounds of lo-fi wireframes before moving to interactive prototypes in Figma. Key decisions tested: onboarding flow, home feed algorithm, and the progress tracking system.
Visual Design System
Built a component library in Figma covering 80+ components across light and dark modes. Typography, colour, spacing, and motion tokens documented for the engineering team to implement consistently.
Usability Testing & Handoff
Ran moderated sessions with 10 participants across iOS and Android. Addressed 14 critical issues before handoff. Delivered annotated specs, redlines, and a motion guide for developers.
Key Screens
Outcome
The redesigned Learna platform launched to immediate positive reception. Within the first month, daily active users tripled and the app achieved a 4.8-star rating on both the App Store and Google Play.
The new personalised home feed, simplified navigation, and visible progress system gave users a reason to return daily — transforming Learna from a compliance tool into a product people genuinely valued.
